The residents are divided into twenty different groups, according to sex, capability and age. Their defectologist and trainers also work with them accordingly. In the Home there is a section where newly
arrived children are checked in and evaluated concerning their abilities as well as their degree of disability. These newly arrived children have here - during their stay in this group - the opportunity to
get used to the Home and to accommodate themselves. The duration of their stay in this group is from 3 to 6 months.
Essence of the treatment for this category of mentally challenged persons is work therapy. The many years of working with the handicapped, has given us experience in this field and we have seen many
positive results. These positive results can be seen i.e. by better developed socializing skills, a good nature and temperament within the Home. Good results can also be seen by the reduction of medication
needed, lower mortality rate, reduction of auto-aggression and less destructive behavior.
In the children's department (a separate building) there are about 90 children of both sexes aged from 5 - 15 years. This department is split into eight educational subdivisions and children are trained
by defectologist. Within department, nurses focus this children on self-help (basic hygiene, dressing, eating).
Treatment has procedures that establish balance in children's life, handle emotional influences or barriers, fine motor skills. There is no movement, gesture or stimulus, which effects on psychophysical
constitution of the child, that has not anything mental or emotional in itself. Every child is part of the programme based on skills, wishes and motivations.
